Barger left Tuesday's game with a head injury

Toronto Blue Jays prospect Addison Barger avoided serious injury after exiting Tuesday's game against the Dunedin Blue Jays with a head injury.

Barger was hit by a pitch in the third inning and immediately left the game. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and was released after undergoing a CT scan and X-rays.

Barger is expected to miss the rest of the season

The Blue Jays announced on Wednesday that Barger has been diagnosed with a concussion and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Barger, 23, is one of the Blue Jays' top prospects. He was batting .273 with six home runs and 27 RBIs in 85 games at Double-A New Hampshire this season.

The Blue Jays are hopeful that Barger will be able to return to action next season.
