Animals Asia Rescues Three Bears from Horrific Conditions
Vietnam sanctuary provides safe haven for rescued bears
Animals Asia has rescued three adult moon bears from notorious bear bile farming hotspots in Vietnam.
The bears were found in cramped and unsanitary cages, where they had been forced to endure the cruel practice of bear bile extraction for years. Bile farming is a barbaric practice in which bears are kept alive while their bile is extracted for use in traditional medicine.
The rescued bears will now receive expert care at Animals Asia's Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre, where they will have access to a spacious and natural environment, as well as veterinary attention and rehabilitation.
Animals Asia has been working to end bear bile farming in Vietnam for over 20 years. In 2017, the organization secured an agreement with the Vietnamese government to end all bear bile farming in the country by 2020. To date, Animals Asia has rescued over 600 bears from bile farms.
